In Giethoorn, you can rent whisper boats (budget boats) and sloops (comfort boats). In these, up to 12 people can sail without needing a boating license.

If you yourself do not dare to sail, you can choose a canal tour through Giethoorn. This can be done in a large tour boat, which can accommodate 44 people. The cost for this is between €9 and €14. It is also possible to be taken on a tour with a smaller group. The cost for this is between €89 and €125 per hour for 6 people.

You can best park your car at the official Giethoorn Village parking. Parking is free here. From this parking lot, you can walk into the village within a few minutes.

Parking in Giethoorn is almost everywhere free. At P3 red, however, you pay €4 per day. Paying in cash is often necessary since the digital payment system at this parking lot frequently has malfunctions.

You cannot park your car in the center of Giethoorn. The center of Giethoorn is car-free. The closest parking lot to the center is the Giethoorn Village parking.

Navigate to the Giethoorn Village parking. Here you will almost always find a parking spot. Usually, this parking lot is only full during Easter weekend, Ascension Day, Pentecost weekend, and the summer construction holiday combined with good weather.

You do not need a boating license to operate a boat with up to 12 people. For more than 12 people on the boat, you need a boating license.
