Boat information

You can rent a luxury electric sloop boat in Giethoorn suitable for 2 to 6 people. The boat is spacious and comfortable, equipped with cushions and back support, and runs on electricity, making it quiet and environmentally friendly. You steer the boat yourself using a steering wheel, and no boating license is required. The minimum (online) rental time is about 1.5 hour, and with a fully charged battery, you can sail for up to 8 hours.

Online booking

Booking online is the cheapest option, and after payment you will receive all necessary instructions by email. It is also possible to book on the spot, but prices are usually higher. The pick-up location (Zuiderpad 32) is at Giethoorn Village Boats & Tours, where there is plenty of free parking. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed, given a short sailing instruction, and provided with an app that includes navigation routes through Giethoorn.

7 different sailing routes:

There are several recommended routes , ranging from short tours of about 1 hour through the village center to longer trips of 4 to 4.5 hours covering the entire area (north, south, and center). Bringing food on board is allowed, but dogs are not permitted.

Sailing routes (advice) with average sailing time without stops:

• Route 1: smallest tour through Giethoorn center = approximately 1 to 1.5 hours of sailing
• Route 2: medium tour through Giethoorn center = approximately 75 minutes to 1.5 hours of sailing
• Route 3: from Giethoorn center to Giethoorn Middenbuurt and back= approximately 1.5 to 2,5 hours of sailing
• Route 4: Giethoorn center (smal part) to Giethoorn South and back = approximately 2 to 2,5 hours of sailing
• Route 5: from Giethoorn center to Giethoorn South and back = approximately 2,5 to 3 hours of sailing
• Route 6: from Giethoorn center to Giethoorn North and back = approximately 3 hours of sailing
• Route 7: explore the whole of Giethoorn (North-South-center) = approximately 4 to 4.5 hours of sailing

Tips and tricks to have the best Giethoorn experience

While sailing, you must follow certain rules: keep to the right, give priority to tour boats, and do not moor under bridges. You should also be considerate of residents and be aware of busy periods, especially between 12:00 and 15:00 when the canals are most crowded.
